Get a permanent Email address!
One of the things that bugs me the most is how often you get the following message:

>>><YOUR_FRIEND@HIS_OLD_ISP.NET> user no longer using our service, he moved years ago and this email address no longer works, good luck at trying to track him down. Don’t even think about googling him because there are 4,210,000 other people on Google with the same name…ha ha.

Grrrrr…..It amazed me how many people use email addresses through an Internet Service Provider (ISP) or just use their work email. It really, really bothers me. When the person switches the internet provider, their email address is now defunct. When they change their jobs, the email address is shut down. Then you get the usual “Hi, my email address has changed, please email me on another email address now…”. I get this email from time to time and it just bugs.
Suggestion: Get a new email address through a free email provider and stick to it. Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, whatever you decide, just pick one and stick to it. I personally have two. I’ve had a hotmail address since 7th grade. I’ve given that email address out to newsletters, friends, collegues, organizations, anytime I have to give out an email address (not critically important or financially-related service) I use this email address. Say someone who knew me in high school wanted to get a hold of me for whatever reason and emails my hotmail address, guess what? They’ll reach me…yay! I have a separate gmail address for more critical items (I check this address with greater frequency than the other), it is used for the resumes, professional organizations, church-related items, financial accounts, etc.
So let’s stop using the Comcasts, Adelphias, Junos, Digis, MyCompany email addresses and let’s get on the same page. It’s the 21st century, let’s act like we’re 21st century people. It’s not 1995, so let’s stop acting like 1995-ers.
